My husband's favorite author is Clifford Simak. And Desertion is one of his favorite stories. We have listened to Way Station on audiobook many times. We had a similar last day a while ago with our beloved boxer/beagle and the next day I made a dogface quilt square in memory of him. It hangs on our fireplace mantle. Thanks Wendy.

Oh, I am so sorry. The only problem with our beloved dogs is they don't live long enough. My dogs leaving me hurt me like no other hurt. But, there are other dogs out there who need loving homes that we can share our love, and we can have doggie kisses again.
Losing a dog is just so damn hard. I’m so sorry. I know that my three dogs were among the millions that happily welcomed Augie at the base of the rainbow bridge. 🩵
