Today’s news is coming to you a day late because yesterday we spent the day saying farewell to Augie Dog by giving him the Very Best Day.
He wasn’t able to play fetch - his favorite game in the whole world - but he was able to enjoy lots of ear rubs, belly rubs and previously-forbidden treats, like a juicy hamburger (with bacon!) and an ice cream cone in the park.
During one of his naps I cracked open my copy of City by Clifford Simak. It’s a collection of stories told by dogs about their human forefathers in the distant past - exactly as delightful as it sounds - and I reread Desertion, one of my favorites in the bunch. It was just the right thing to read on a very sad day.
Rest in Peace Augie. You were a Very Good Boy.
Please give your furry friends extra love and a good belly rub from me today.
Best,
Wendi
