Yak/Bison/Muskox/Highland Cow Applique Pattern
Plus - a beautiful batch of quilts for babies in the NICU
Whew! This pattern was a bear to create! But I’m so happy with how it turned out!
You can find it listed under each of these animals in my shop so it’s easy for people to find - but they are all the same pattern.
Bonus! You can use the same templates to make additional bovine animals. For example - to make a water buffalo you can use the muskox horns but turn them more horizontal, and position the ears as long as possible and make them droop down. Have fun with it!
If you’re curious, this was a really interesting article I found about the evolution of cattle around the world. It’s fascinating how many species went back and forth from wild to domesticated over time!
The new yak/bison/muskox/Highland cow pattern is free for all paid newsletter subscribers. Paid or free, keep scrolling until you get the the section called The Download. That’s where you’ll find the links you need to get it. 🥰
Now that the yak pattern is finished, I have patterns in my shop for every letter of the alphabet!
Woo hoo!
That means the next step for your ABC quilts is for me to make a layout guide for you. That’ll be in next week’s newsletter!
It will be a free layout guide and will NOT include block patterns. If you have many of my patterns you probably already have a bunch of the blocks you’ll need, and you can just fill in as needed from the individual block patterns. Those are in alphabetical order so it’ll be easy for you to find the animals you need for your alphabet.
Remember, ALL those individual block patterns are always Buy Four Get the Fifth Free. No coupon code needed. Just add five block patterns to your cart and it will automatically make the fifth free. If you add ten blocks, it will make two of them free. Easy peasy.
If you have a discount code, that will be on top of the bundled discount. So, for example, if you’re a paid subscriber and use the 20% off code you’ll find at the bottom of this letter, the four patterns you pay for will be 20% off and you’ll still get the fifth for free.
Here’s your weekly dose of awesomeness from the Shiny Happy People group!
Rian uses single block patterns to make adorable quilts for babies in the NICU - she posted a whole bunch of them here. Click through to see how adorable they are and the cute way she pairs them with border fabrics! (I especially love the pairing she used for the octopus quilt.)
Head over to the Shiny Happy People group on Facebook to see lots more wonderfulness people are making with my patterns—and to ask questions and share photos of your own projects. It’s my favorite place on the internet.
In an effort to make this newsletter short enough to go through most email providers without getting chopped off, I’ve broken out some favorite pieces to give them their own days.
Wednesday is for inspiration - favorite artists, books, recipes, and more. In last week’s Five Happy Things - Books I Can’t Wait to Read, you all were most interested in this book, the first in a favorite series. There were also some great suggestions in the comments!
Friday is for oldies but goodies from the archives. Last week you all gave this post the most love, a free pattern that’s just perfect for the start of the new year.
And last Monday, most of you decided to get some new wallpaper for your devices with this link.
You can always change which newsletters you receive by clicking this link. In the Notifications section, choose which mailings you do and don’t want. Easy peasy! (If you’re curious, Friday’s is the most popular, followed very closely by Wednesday’s.)
As I mentioned above, the download this week is the brand new Bison/Muskox/Yak/Highland Cow pattern.
If you don’t want to pay for Everything Under the Sun access ($5 per month or $50 per year), you can simply purchase the pattern here. Easy peasy! 🥰 Have fun with it!
That’s the end of the newsletter for free subscribers. Thanks so much for reading - and I hope you have a fabulous week!
