First, I want to start with a warm thank you for all the kind notes you all sent about Augie’s passing. I haven’t been able to reply to all of them, but I’ve appreciated every one. 🥰 I’ve really been enjoying going back and looking at photos of him over the years. The one above is from fourteen years ago - shortly after we adopted him. No gray muzzle on this young fellow!
Surprising nobody, last week wasn’t a productive one. 🙁 I had a hard time settling into anything, and I certainly wasn’t feeling the fun in any of the new projects I had planned. So I decided to take the week to just finish up small projects and clear the decks, cleaning and organizing so when I’m ready I can jump right into it.
All that cleaning and organizing and finishing means two new things for you.
The Galen Gorilla pattern is in the shop!
Gorillas are one of my favorite animals, and I’m working towards having enough primates to collect them into a bundle. I have five so far, so I’m still a ways off - but a gorilla was essential.
I also updated the Fergal Fox pattern so now it includes SVG files and has a video showing assembly using a light box.
This week I need to finish the next pattern in the Funny Faces Club. It releases on Saturday!
Thankfully, I had already made the samples so all I have to do this week is edit photos and videos and write the pattern.
The current club pattern - the newt/lizard/salamander has been really popular!
Several people wrote to let me know that this pattern will also make a great gecko, so I’ll be making a fourth sample for it soon. 🙂 Maybe a western banded gecko?
This is the last week to get the pattern at the discounted club price, so if you had your eye on this guy, be sure to get it before midnight on Thursday.
One thing I love to do no matter what mood I’m in is to look through what you all are posting in the Shiny Happy People group. Here are a few beauties from last week.
Madeline made her second quilt with the Backyard Birds pattern! I love the pastel backgrounds and the black border - and the quilting is lovely!
Brenda shared a really fun quilt made with lots of different critters from the Funny Faces Club and other patterns. I love the bright background blocks framed with the black and white striped binding. What pop!
Linda made a gorgeous warm quilt with the Cuddly Cats pattern! I love how she arranged the background blocks into a checkerboard pattern of lights and darks! And zoom in to take a closer look at all the cute fabrics she used. 🥰
Head over to the Shiny Happy People group on Facebook to see lots more wonderfulness people are making with my patterns—and to ask questions and share photos of your own projects. It’s my favorite place on the internet!
I’m so glad we finally got our books unpacked, because this week I really needed a book that felt like a hug and I knew exactly what it was.
Bookshops and Bonedust is a prequel to Legends and Lattes and it was exactly what I needed - warm and cozy with big heart. I just wish Satchel had made it to the cover because he was my favorite character. (Sorry to not say more, but to tell you anything about him would be a little spoilery. Which, now that I think of it, is probably why he’s not on the cover. 😂)
The archives and sale now have their own newsletter every Friday. Last week the prize for most clicks was a tie between this free pattern, and this free pattern. Both so useful and personal favorites!
If you know someone who’d like to read this, please share! 🥰
Happy stitching!
I hope you have a fabulous week!
Best,
Wendi
🥰
PS - Spoonflower is having a really big sale for Memorial Day weekend - up to 30% off everything! I’m taking advantage of the discount by stocking up on blenders for what I hope is a big bunch of sample sewing in June. And I’m also deciding between this and this for a big-stitched whole-cloth quilt for my office. The sale ends midnight Tuesday (tomorrow) so I’ve still got time to decide.
