I just finished a book by a friend of mine. Available on Amazon adventures of Nick Hoffman voyage to America. By Paul Zimmerschied. .it is an amazing book of a young boy and his family who left St.Gallen Switzerland and went to Bremen Germany to sail to America for a new life. All ages .
I love Anne of Green Gables and have from childhood. But it makes me sad to think that if you never finished the first book, you haven't read the rest of the series? There are six more books that take Anne well into middle age!
I love Anne so much. I’m sorry you never finished the book… I remember worrying that she was going to be sent back to the orphanage for 3 chapters or so. A more worldly friend noted “well the title is Anne of ‘green gables’.”That should have been a clue… as for the thing that you didn’t mention b/c you didn’t want to spoil it for others, I remember reading in LMM’s memoir that she regretted putting that in. She also said she didn’t like books being made into plays. But it was and it’s wonderful. Best to you.
Oooh! How could I have forgotten THE SPELLSHOP!!!! That was AMAZINGLY cozy and I read it in one sitting. So, so good.
One more thought: are you familiar with Vivian Shaw? Her Strange Practice series is just charming - a doctor called Dr. Greta Helsing who works with the undead during quasi gaslight-Victorian times. Mystery plus intriguing novels of manners.

Anne With An E on Netflix is WONDERFUL
Try ThriftBooks (website or app) I often find out if print jewels there!

That's the main thing that has made me want to go back and finish it!

That's so interesting that she regretted putting it in!
We saw the play this summer in Prince Edward Island and it was fabulous.
Ordered it before I finished ready your post - sounds amazing! Like A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle - thanks so much!
Oooh! A Winkle in Time is another favorite. And also A Ring of Endless Light - also by L'Engle. I read that book over and over until it fell apart.

I've never heard of those, but they sound like loads of fun! Adding to my list.
