I love the Pern books and I also agree with you that Dragonsong is one of the best books in the series.

On a Pale Horse by Piers Anthony is my all time favorite book and the Incarnations of Immortality is my all time favorite series. I can't tell you how many times I have read them. Not quite someone left alone but the story of someone who is alone and makes the most of it in the end :).

But thank you for all your book suggestions I have read quite a few of your recommendations and enjoyed them.

Nothing beats a good summertime reading of A Secret Garden. One of my favorite summer memories is of sitting in the backyard and listening to mom read it to me.

If you liked the Martian, be sure and read Project Hail Mary also by Weir. I read that one first and liked it even better than the Martian, though both were great. Another children's book is My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George, and there are 2 sequels. Also Girl of the Limberlost by Gene Stratton-Porter. All have main characters who are OK alone. from another introvert

I LOVED Project Hail Mary and I thought about adding it to this list, but then I decided to add it to a BFFs list I'm working on. :-) I've never read Girl of the Limberlost - I'm adding it to my list. :-)

Ok - I have to admit I've never read anything by Stephen King. I tried to read The Stand once and, but abandoned it about 100 pages in. But this sounds good! Adding it to my list. :-)

Wendy! Dragonsong ❤️ Anne McCaffrey is the reason I wanted the be a science fiction writer! I was just thinking I need to go back into the world of Pern.

I've been thinking of re-reading the whole series, this time in internal chronological order instead of publication order. :-)
