The War that Saved my Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. Also its follow-up, The War I Finally Won. Wonderful WW II story. I can't recommend this wonderful WW II story strongly enough.

Awww! Loved Chronicles of Narnia too. The last one you mentioned reminds me of The Never Ending Story! And loved the Goonies ! Though movies loved them! I was an avid reader as a kid , now as an adult not as much! It was a great escape for a shy kid ! I have published a book of poetry on Amazon ! Mermaid in the moon!

A Wrinkle in Time and its sequels. As well as the rest of L'Engle's series.

Anything by E. Nesbit (The Railway Children, The Enchanted Castle, etc)

LOVE, love, love KB Bradley. I need to circle back and pick up her books again - and thanks for the heads up when A's are out!

Well, when my WWII book, MARE'S WAR came out, I once got the comment that it would have been "as good as The Color Purple if it hadn't had all the kids." This from someone not conversant with the idea of children's lit...? Though that always gives me a giggle, it is a book that crosses over pretty easily.

Most recent suggestions for recent adult/teen or adult/kid crossovers are:

SEA LEGS, Jules Bakes & Niki Smith, a delightful graphic novel about life aboard a boat, and

LIVE, LOVE, LEVEL by MCA Hogarth, a LitRPG novel about... a lot of things, but mostly a family reconnecting.

Those new books are great suggestions, and that comment on MARE'S WAR is BONKERS! I loved MARE'S WAR - I need to include it in a list of WWII books!
