I read this post and now I understand why I like your website so much - we are kindred spirits! Books, handwork, walking, etc - enjoy your new location!!
Hi Wendy. I am so excited for you. I know just how you feel. When my second husband and I got together he was in the Canadian Military and was posted to Alberta, Canada. We lived in Nova Scotia and this was a big adventure for me to drive across Canada and live in a new place. Leaving the ocean and moving to the Prairies. After a while I could see a similarity between looking out over the ocean and the Prairie. Enjoy, enjoy enjoy. I am excited too and can't wait to hear about all your new experiences. You are a gift to us, never change .
Ooh, when we lived in Scotland I so loved walking to the greengrocer or to the library or the theater. Of course this is MUCH LESS FUN in driving rain or snow.😏
Welcome to the PNW, Wendi! We live in Salem, just a few miles down the road. I imagine you did a lot of good research about Portland before moving here. Portland has changed a lot in the last few years. Thinking of you and your family and hope you find all the good things you expect and more! Be safe.
Congratulations! And it took me FOREVER to realize that "puppy thanks" was probably supposed to be "puppy tranqs." 😂 Yes - we've talked to the vet and she's on it. I hope it helps. Our old man is very much a creature of habit and the drive is going to be rough on him. 😢
I'm so excited you're moving to Portland! I'm just south of Seattle and keep finding reasons I want to visit Portland. (Maybe you could have a meet up for your West Coast members after you get settled. )

Good luck with your move! We moved two months ago to a much smaller house, and it felt so good to get rid of so much.
Also, ask your vet for puppy thanks, to make it easier on your dog
