An Adorable Cat on Your Free September Wallpaper
Plus - a great book recommendation and a sweet llama
Happy September!
(I can’t believe it’s September! How did that even happen?)
You all voted for the cat for this month’s wallpaper, and you can see by his satisfied smile that he’s very pleased. 😁
Here’s how you can get that cutie. . .
If you want the wallpaper (with or without the September calendar) it’s free! You can get it here. There’s also a tall option, better for phones.
If you want the applique pattern (perfect for adding just one more kitty to your Cuddly Cats pattern) you can get that here.
If you want the printable art (including a PNG with a transparent background) you can get that here. There’s a tutorial here showing how to use printable files to make cute greeting cards.
If you’re a paid subscriber DO NOT buy the printable files. They’re your free download this week! 🎉 Keep scrolling until you get the the section called The Download. That’s where you’ll find the links you need. 🥰
Now that the September calendar is out, it’s time to start drawing the one for October.
You get to decide again!
I can’t wait to see who you choose!
I went to Bouchercon (a really fun mystery convention) in Nashville last week. It was fantastic and I have a huge list of new authors to try, but it means I didn’t get any sewing done. Not a stitch.
That means I’m still working on the update of the unicorn/horse pattern so we’ll have a U for the ABC quilt.
It’ll be ready next week!
It’s a long flight from Portland to Nashville, and I read a book I just loved.
You’d think I would read a mystery on the way to a mystery conference, but I like to do the unexpected sometimes. 😂
Caro Chambers of (What to Cook When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking fame) recommended the book and shared an interview with the author in which she talked about how she published her first adult book at age 52. As a woman in her 50s writing her first (fiction) book - I was intrigued. 😁 The interview was great - and the book is FANTASTIC. I loved every minute of it and I can’t wait to read her second book.
But I’m getting ahead of myself, thinking about the next book. 📚 Here’s the summary for Nora Goes Off Script. . .
Nora writes romance movies for a Hallmark-ish kind of channel. When her husband leaves her and their kids, she uses that experience to write a movie that her agent sells to a major Hollywood studio. They film part of the movie at her home - and she falls in love with the leading man who plays her ex. It’s a warm hug of a book, with terrific wit too. I’m pretty sure she named the main character Nora in honor of Nora Ephron who wrote You’ve Got Mail and When Harry Met Sally - my favorite rom-com ever.
I hope you love it!
Here’s your weekly dose of awesomeness from the Shiny Happy People group!
Just look at this adorable tote bag that Kylie made with the Liz Llama pattern! So cute with the added bow tie! And I love the fabrics she chose - especially for the strap. 🐞 But that llama’s not all! In the same post she shared several other tote bags (donations for an animal sanctuary) and a fabulous quilt made with the Cuddly Cats pattern. Click through to see them all!
If you want to make a tote bag with your applique patterns - no resizing needed - there’s a free pattern here.
Head over to the Shiny Happy People group on Facebook to see lots more wonderfulness people are making with my patterns—and to ask questions and share photos of your own projects. It’s my favorite place on the internet.
The archives and sale now have their own newsletter every Friday. Last week this post got three times as many clicks as everything else. Will we be seeing some T-shirt quilts in the Shiny Happy People group soon?
As I mentioned above, the download this week is a set of printables for Colby Cat.
If you don’t want to pay for Everything Under the Sun access ($5 per week or $50 per year), you can purchase the printables here. Easy peasy! 🥰 Have fun with them!
That’s the end of the newsletter for free subscribers. Thanks so much for reading - and I hope you have a fabulous week!
