A Sweet Koala on Your Free October Wallpaper
Plus - silly monsters and a whole mischief of adorable mice
Well, October is starting off as a very eventful month. I want to thank everyone again for your generous donations to the Red Cross and other organizations helping the people of western North Carolina and other areas hit hard by Helene.
Before I jump into this week’s news, I thought I’d share a quick report from my friends in the area. They are simultaneously overwhelmed by the extent of the damage, grateful it wasn’t worse, warmed by the support of the community, and surprised by the speed of relief efforts. Thanks so much to everyone who is helping! If you’re looking for a place to contribute, at this point I recommend Mennonite Disaster Service. Their focus is on long-term recovery, especially helping people repair and rebuild their homes. I have a friend in Ohio whose family lost their home to a tornado and she said MDS was amazing. They’re kind of well-known for being the last to leave an affected area.
And now, on to the regular news. ❤️
You all voted for the sweet koala for this month’s wallpaper. Here’s how you can get that cutie. . .
If you want the wallpaper (with or without the October calendar) it’s free! You can get it here. There’s also a tall option, better for phones.
If you want the applique pattern you can get that here.
If you want the printable art (including a PNG with a transparent background) you can get that here. There’s a tutorial here showing how to use printable files to make cute greeting cards.
If you’re a paid subscriber DO NOT buy the printable files. They’re your free download this week! 🎉 Keep scrolling until you get the the section called The Download. That’s where you’ll find the links you need. 🥰
We’ll vote on the November calendar next week. This week I have a more pressing question. I have two tiger patterns and I need to decide which one to use for the ABC sample!
I can’t wait to see what you choose! I’m hoping to get my samples all finished (including new patterns for V, X and Y) by the end of the year.
I’m working on a Halloween block and expect the pattern to be ready next week.
I just love Frankenstein monsters! I’m doing a black and white version too - maybe for a future movie monsters bundle?
Speaking of monsters, look at the new bundle that Chantell just finished for folks with embroidery machines!
I especially love the block with the flies! She pulled that tongue and flies from the Frasier Frog pattern and it’s super cute here! Since I make all my blocks to fit 10-inch squares it’s really easy to mix and match not just blocks, but also individual templates! This is stellar! Get the set here.
Here’s your weekly dose of awesomeness from the Shiny Happy People group!
Look at all the dolls that Mary made with the Squeak and Spot patterns! That’s just a big chair of happiness! Be sure to click through to the post and peek at the comments too - she shares details and photos of additional outfits!
Head over to the Shiny Happy People group on Facebook to see lots more wonderfulness people are making with my patterns—and to ask questions and share photos of your own projects. It’s my favorite place on the internet.
In an effort to make this newsletter short enough to go through most email providers without getting chopped off, I’ve broken out some favorite pieces to give them their own days.
Wednesday is for inspiration - favorite artists, books, recipes, and more. In last week’s Books that Feel Like a Warm Hug edition of Five Happy Things, this recipe for cocoa to enjoy while you read got the most clicks. 😂 The comments on that post are full of additional cozy book recommendations. Give them a look!
Friday is for oldies but goodies from the archives. Last week this post and this tutorial were tied for the most clicks. Interesting!
As I mentioned above, the download this week is a set of printables for Kevin Koala.
If you don’t want to pay for Everything Under the Sun access ($5 per week or $50 per year), you can purchase the printables here. Easy peasy! 🥰 Have fun with them!
That’s the end of the newsletter for free subscribers. Thanks so much for reading - and I hope you have a fabulous week!
