Week 32: Ironing Embroidery and a Free Flowery Felt Coaster Pattern
Plus - 20% off a butterfly, a water buffalo, a snail, and a bunch of Arctic critters
The heart and soul of Shiny Happy World is in the archives. There are hundreds of free patterns and tutorials and it’s easy to be overwhelmed by all the information. Every Friday I share just a manageable sliver - a peek at what was happening during the same week of every year since the start of Shiny Happy World. This is Week 32.
If you’d rather not receive these Friday emails you can turn them off and still receive the regular Monday news.

Easy peasy!
This is a free post, with links to many free tutorials and patterns. If you know someone who’d like to read it, please share! 🥰
The archives are almost all free - but sometimes I released a new pattern in the shop during that week in history. Those patterns are all on sale this week!
Shiny Happy World has been around for a LOT of years now. That’s a lot of photos - possibly too many for your email provider to handle. If they chop off the end of the post, look for a link at the bottom where it will say something like “View Entire Message.” Depending on your email provider, it might just be a cryptic set of three dots. Click there to see the rest. 🙂

This is actually a really common issue - and it's because people are having trouble identifying the back loop. This post shows exactly where it is.

I love getting extra use out of all of my patterns. Here’s a non-stitchy way to use my embroidery patterns to make greeting cards!

One of the lovely things about embroidery is the way it sits on the surface of the fabric. You don’t want to undo that by smooshing the stitches with your iron - but you also almost always need to iron your finished work. This video shows how I iron all my embroidery.

One of my most popular free patterns! This is a terrific way to use scraps, and the coasters make great gifts.

A time lapse video showing my process for making a digital cut paper poodle. I’ve refined my technique a lot since then, adding highlights to the cut edges, and shadows to really make it look three-dimensional. But this is where I started.

Here you can see something much closer to what I’m doing now.

I reorganized all the crochet lessons to make it easier to work through them in order.
Have a terrific weekend!

Wendi, my brain and fingers have never been able to crochet anything that is not just straight rows down like an afghan, doll or baby blankets or dishcloths, so I content myself with those items when I crochet. I must comment on adorable Walter the water buffalo, however. How clever to combine water buffalo with swimming in swim trunks and an inner tube! So cute! Your mind and heart work together beautifully to birth such fabulous creations. I am in awe of your talent!
