The New Mosquito Pattern Is Finally Here! π¦
Plus - a π¦ tutorial π¦ for π¦ those π¦ dangly π¦ legs π¦
Hello, friends!
The much-requested mosquito pattern is finally here!
Iβve been trying to design a mosquito I was happy with for a long time, but those legs were always the stumbling block.
To me, those long, dangly legs are an essential part of a mosquitoβs mosquitoness. But how to applique them?
If I made them wide enough to applique without the fabric falling to bits, they looked all wrong. Stitching was clearly the way to go, but how to mark the lines easily?
Usually the detail lines in my patterns are ON the applique piece, which makes it very easy to transfer the lines from the pattern to the fabric. But these legs were going to fall outside the mosquito body, and the way I applique (quilting the batting to the block before appliqueing) makes it impossible to see through that block to trace the lines.
I finally came up with a solution I like, and thereβs a new video tutorial here.
But thatβs not all!
When I was sketching my mosquito for the block, I couldnβt decide whether he should look goofy or angry. I ran the sketches by Jo and she suggested both!
So there are two different eye options.

Two people have recently shared clothing embellished with Shiny Happy World applique patterns - and the results are so cute!
Allison made this sweet sweatshirt with one of the dogs from the Playful Puppies applique pattern. So cute! And yes, she made the shirt, too!
But you donβt have to be a garment-sewer to do this! Dawn made plain t-shirts super adorable by adding the Liz Llama and Bellamy Bee patterns (plus the heart-shaped glasses from the Fancy Doodads pattern). I love them!
Head over to the Shiny Happy People group on Facebook to see lots more wonderfulness people are making with my patternsβand to ask questions and share photos of your own projects. Itβs my favorite place on the internet!
Thanks so much for reading! I hope you love the new mosquito, and I hope you have a fabulous week!
Happy stitching!
Best,
Wendi

Please create a new more realistic honey bee pattern. Bees also have 6 legs, plus they have two sets of wings, large eyes and only the queen wears a crown (just kidding). All the bee lovers would love it.
