Spread a little joy today! Pass this along to someone who’d love it. 🥰
My Backyard Birds pattern is one of my favorite things I’ve ever worked on. Birds are just so much fun!
This week I’m sharing beautiful birds made by all kinds of artists, using all kinds of materials.
Look at this gorgeous mockingbird made with cut paper! Sarah Suplina is the artist and her Instagram feed is STUNNING.
This chipper little black-headed grosbeak made from dyed silks and men’s ties just makes me smile. That pose! Squeakysews made it with Ann Wood’s Songbird pattern.
These birds made out of old silverware are AMAZING! The artist is Matt Wilson and I love the ways he uses the decorative details on the handles to add rich detail. Grab a cup of tea and prepare for a long scroll through his gorgeous Instagram feed.
This adorably chunky little orange bird from Caroline McPherson makes me happy.
This one’s not visual art, but it was so much fun I had to include it. Ferris Jabr writes delightful “reviews” of different kinds of nests, mostly a super fun commentary on the personality types of the birds who make them. They make me laugh out loud.

Enjoy!

In an effort to have fewer email providers chop my emails in half because they’re so dang long, I’ve moved my inspirations (book recommendations, favorite recipes, and awesome artists) to their own newsletter every Wednesday. Think of it as a quick way to fill your cup in the middle of the week. 🥰
If you’d rather not receive these Wednesday emails you can turn them off and still receive the regular monthly news and Friday archives.

THIS has all been delightful - thanks for the eyeful of art this morning! I have been watching how-to videos on making rings and bracelets out of old silverware for a long time (and I still am no closer to trying it myself, but this hasn't stopped me from buying random pieces at Goodwill) but than man's BIRDS are just next level!
I really believe that hummingbirds are probably related to fairies, so their next review totally tracks...
Those bird nest reviews are priceless! Thanks so much for sharing them.
