In an effort to have fewer email providers chop my emails in half because they’re so dang long, I’m moving my inspirations (book recommendations, favorite recipes, and awesome artists) to their own newsletter every Wednesday. Think of it as a quick way to fill your cup in the middle of the week. 🥰
If you’d rather not receive these Wednesday emails you can turn them off and still receive the regular Monday news and Friday archives.

I once bought a pair of jeans that had a few holes in them, and immediately mended the holes with embroidered patches.
My daughter thought that was hysterical. “You know people pay extra for the holes, right?”
I do know. 😁 But I love patches! Any mending that adds to the beauty of the thing that needs repair makes me happy.
So today I bring you five examples of beautiful visible mending.
I’ve seen lots of examples of visible mending covering tiny moth holes in sweaters, but these soot sprites are extra special.
This sweater had a coffee stain, and then damage from trying to remove the stain. The sweater was plain white, and the mending added a beautiful burst of color.
This video shows @stitchingsabbatical using thread scraps to create a burst of confetti on the arm of her sofa, covering up where her cat used it to sharpen his claws. Brilliant!
This excellent video tutorial shows a beautiful way to use fabric scraps and sashiko-style stitching to mend “heel bites” on the back of a pair of jeans. I love that she didn’t make the two legs match - even better than mending is scrappy mending.
This short video uses stop-motion animation in a lovely documentary about how craft mends us.
Enjoy!
Best,
